Before Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Disneyland, there was Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland. This took riders on a Jungle Cruise-esque journey to see what the “wild west” had to offer. Through Rainbow Caverns, around the beautiful Cascade Falls (demolished in 1998), into Bear Country, and through the Living Desert. The ride was expansive, and covered much of Frontierland today.

Many remnants of the ride remain today: Tunnels from Bear Country that can be seen on the Disneyland Railroad, cacti from the Living Desert were relocated to Walt Disney World’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and a tribute to Rainbow Caverns is located in Disneyland’s version of this ride.
